The F-450 Low-Floor
2/3/2006
THE LAST FEW WEEKS HAVE BROUGHT A FLURRY OF ACTIVITY ON THE F-450 LO-FLOOR PROJECT
DETROIT, MI – Detroit Chassis LLC, an automotive manufacturing company of niche vehicles and RV chassis, announced today that it has played host to a number of customers interested in the Lo-Floor concept. A team from the Arizona Bus Company made a visit in mid January to examine our first vehicle and take a look at our plant. They were very impressed and it looks promising that they will become a customer.
A team from U-Haul, one of America’s largest utility vehicle rental firms, flew to Detroit from Arizona in their corporate jet this past week for a first-hand look at the vehicle, DCP and our assembly processes. They too, were impressed with both the vehicle and our plant.
Mike Guthrie, Don Taylor, the Dallas Smith team and others involved on the project will be visiting the Toronto Transit Authority on February 15 to discuss the Lo-Floor concept and its application for urban shuttle buses. This application is anticipated to be the first widespread application of the Lo-Floor concept.
We have committed to build additional vehicles by May 2006.
The first unit we built last year, what we call our ‘development unit’, confirmed that we could indeed build this vehicle as we initially planned. These next 12 vehicles, what we call our ‘validation units’ is our opportunity to prove we can build these vehicles and be profitable doing it. Obviously, this is a very crucial step.
ASSOCIATES ARE ENCOURAGED TO GET INVOLVED:
“We are scheduled to begin the validation units the week of February 20th. After we get started, please feel free to stop by and visit the Validation Team in the Process Development Lab during our breaks and lunch period, and practice your LAMDA skills.
