DCP Bids Farewell to Ms. Callie Kendrick
5/4/2007

Thursday, May 03, 2007 Detroit Chassis associates celebrated the contributions of Ms. Callie Kendrick, Resource Coordinator, Children’s Aid Society (CAS). All associates were invited to an open mike session at the end of shift to share with Ms. Callie.

Ms. Callie returned from retirement accepting a position with CAS and was assigned to DCP in 2001.

She has worked tirelessly to manage DCP’s Reliable Resource Program by making referrals to trained experienced professionals who provide available support services.

Ms. Callie has a great rapport with all associates and she is warm, caring and always eager to assist when there is a need.

“I have been giving a lot of thought on what I could say to Michael and Carlton Guthrie, two of the most spectacular men I have ever met. They have made a difference in my life in many ways. I respect them as men of integrity who are very wise businessmen, who are also decent, honest, compassionate, warm, loving, and kind hearted. They are true friends.

Mike and Carlton, it has been an honor to be a part of the DCP family. I thank the both of you so very much from the bottom of my heart, for being with me during the good times and the bad. I have enjoyed servicing DCP associates, who put their trust and confidence in me.

DCP associates tell me how they appreciate me but let me tell you that they have done much more for me and I appreciate knowing each one.
You all will always be in my thoughts and prayers.”

Reliable Resources is a major component of DCP’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which also includes: Human Resources, Legal Consultation and Corporate Chaplaincy. The program is very unique in that it assists associates in balancing work and family life. Associates often stress that personal concerns can put enormous strain on individuals and it makes a world of a difference when there is someone to talk with voluntarily and confidentially that will work to find available answers to respond to issues.

DCP’s EAP Program has been recognized and documented in the Workforce Development Series Policy Paper No 1, “Detroit Chassis in Detroit, Michigan, contracted with the Children’s Aid Society of Southeastern Michigan to provide enhanced employee assistance. The program has an on-site social worker at the firm who can address a wide range of family needs. The EAP assist families in accessing benefits for housing, health, education, transportation and legal needs. The program also serves as a conduit for the flow of information pertaining to other available resources.” 1

Associates have been able to depend on Ms. Callie and trust her with sensitive information knowing that she is not a threat but a way to obtain resolutions to many hindrances that would normally cause time away from work.

During Ms. Callie’s tenure at DCP she also developed and implemented the following programs:
Keep the Children Warm (provided gloves, hats, scarves and socks in early winter)
Keep the Children Fed food pantry
Don’t Procrastinate Help Educate (provided school supplies)

Ms. Callie was also an integral part of other DCP sponsored events such as the annual Family Christmas Celebration and Summer Celebrations.

Thank you Ms. Callie for your many contributions and untiring love for us. You will remain in our hearts forever!

Nadine Anderson will assume resource coordination responsibilities. She was born and raised in Idlewild, Michigan and moved to Detroit in 1984. She received a Bachelors in Social Work (BSW) degree from the University of Detroit Mercy and has plans to pursue a Masters in Social Work (MSW) in the fall of 2007. Nadine loves to fish and crochet in her spare time and she looks forward to servicing DCP associates.
