Internships at Detroit Chassis

This session was particularly special because it was developed and extended to DCP families. It marked the expansion of the original program, which was a result of a partnership with Davis Aerospace Technical High School that offered students the opportunity to work during part of the day while earning school credit.

Ebone Ray is a 12th grader at Consortium College Preparatory High School in Detroit and niece to long time associate Rickie Stewart. She was selected to participate through an extensive interview process. Ebone completed a five-week cooperative where she was given the opportunity to work along side company leaders to gain an understanding of how an entrepreneurial manufacturing/assembly business operates.

“Ebone is a bright young lady and she was a stellar candidate who showed up for work on time each day. She eagerly took on challenges and didn’t hesitate to ask questions when she needed help” stated, Linda Ratliff, Manager – Ministry, Community Support and Customer Service.

Brittney Williams, a 2007 graduate from Charles H. Kettering High School and a Detroit Chassis NABAS Scholar also completed a summer internship at Detroit Chassis. Brittney was Class President and Salutatorian of her class at Kettering. Brittney was assigned to work primarily in the Quality Department. She also worked with Dave Starzacher, ‘08 Launch Engineer. Brittany is headed for Michigan State next week to begin studies in Applied Engineering Science and she plans to keep in contact with us as she progresses in her college career.

Both Ebone and Brittney were given an opportunity to make a presentation to company leaders on their internship experience at DCP. They indicated that this was a wonderful educational experience and that they will use the insights, knowledge and skills they learned in their future academic and work pursuits.
