DCP and Habitat for Humanity
8/24/2007
Hundreds of volunteers from across the metro Detroit area gathered on Detroit’s east side August 4th through the 10th to assist with Habitat for Humanity’s 2007 Blitz build. Volunteers assisted with tasks from cutting and putting up aluminum siding, to cutting and attaching shingles to the roof, and everything in between. Build leaders briefed volunteers for each home every morning on the goals they wanted to achieve during the build for that day.
“The number one goal each day was for everyone to have fun” All volunteers were provided with unlimited amounts of bottled water, and fed a complimentary lunch by TGI Friday’s each day. A total of 12 homes were built during the blitz build this year, six were two story homes, and the remaining six were three and four bedroom ranch-style homes with attached garages.
Habitat for Humanity sends a special thanks to the Detroit Chassis team of volunteers: Ron Neys, Sharon Humphrey, Jasmin Young, Joe Suggs, Ken Sigler and Toshalyn Erve.
