Quality Update
8/31/2007
Staying competitive in today’s automotive market is extremely challenging. Among those challenges is World Class Quality. Several Ford Motor Company vehicles were best in class per JD Power. Detroit Chassis, a Tier Zero supplier to Ford Motor Company, is proactively working with Ford to assure continued success.
Detroit Chassis’ Quality Initiatives and Objectives have been enhanced to assure that our quality levels establish WORLD CHAMPION benchmarks. In particular, we are focused on Chassis, Powertrain, and Electrical sub-systems.
We have implemented an enhanced cross-functional team approach to contain and resolve all quality issues in a 24-hour period. Associates, Team Leaders, Engineers, Quality, Operations and leadership work together on each issue and report status the following day. All issues are tracked until root causes are determined and resolved.
We have also intensified our internal quality checks and are reviewing key manufacturing operations for robustness to assure process capability of all operations.
Many of our competitors take a one-step approach to quality by merely intensifying the quality inspection process. We not only use inspection processes, we incorporate sophisticated fixturing and assembly tools to ensure first-time product conformance.
External Customer quality and warranty issues are also reviewed daily to assure that we meet our Mission of “Customer Joy”. We not only review issues that are specifically related to Motor Home Body Builders, but also any issues that may affect other Ford manufacturing sites. Detroit Chassis is taking a proactive role to assure that our valued customer Ford Motor Company is 1st in the next JD Power Quality Survey.
We do not wait for the customer to call us; we call them.
Our immediate quality objective is a flawless 2008 F-53 launch with World Champion quality. We are on target.
