DCP's 2007 United Way Contribution Campaign
11/2/2007
The 2007 United Way contribution campaign coordinated by Nadine Anderson, Resource Coordinator, Linda Ratliff, Manager – Ministry, Community Support and Customer Service, and the 2007 United Way sub-committee was an awe-inspiring success.
We are pleased to announce that we raised $20,000 during this year’s campaign and increased participation plant-wide from 40% to 77%.
Early in the campaign Ford Motor Company announced their challenge to increase participation targets to 54% amongst UAW workers and 80% amongst salaried workers. DCP more than met the challenge by increasing participation amongst UAW workers to 73% and 93% amongst salaried workers.
“DCP associates continuously demonstrate their compassion and commitment to each other and our community. Thank you for your generous support of our 2007 United Way effort.” Michael Guthrie, President and CEO.
Demetrius Williams, Intern was the winner of our first drawing and he took home a brand new 20” colored television set with remote.
This year’s sub-committee (Lynne Mimms, Toria Bradley-May, Stacey Davis, Jasmin Young, Brenda Trice, Linda Casaigne, Brandon Ruffin, Fabian Hill, Jeffrey Minto, Darin Burns, Sharon Humphrey, Avis Wallace, Debbie Williams, Mary Horton and Edwina Milligan) worked to spread the United Way message throughout our plant.
Three major fund-raising events were conducted:
- Baked Goods Sale
- Donut & Cider Sale
- Hot Dog, Pop & Chips Sale
These events helped to highlighted our campaign and encouraged participation.
We conducted seven drawings for prizes provided by company leaders, the Southern Hospitality Group and the Detroit Princess Riverboat. The following items were included in our drawings:
- Dinner for two at Seldom Blues and a one nights stay at the Detroit Marriott
- Dinner for two aboard the Detroit Princess Riverboat
- Detroit Pistons VIP dinner and game tickets
- A $50 Mobile gas card
- Movie Theatre Tickets
Our grand prize drawing was conducted Thursday, October 11, 2007 and Ms. Callie Kendrick was the blissful winner of the certificate for dinner for two at Seldom Blues and the one nights stay at the Detroit Marriott.
“I am so excited to have won the grand prize. It is a pleasure to still be connected to my DCP family and United Way even after retirement. I look forward to future campaigns.” Ms. Callie Kendrick, Retired Resource Coordinator.
A special thank you is extended to those who worked tirelessly to make sure that each fund-raising initiative was successful:
