WE ARE COMMITTED TO EMBRACING CHANGE BY LEARNING AND GROWTH

DETROIT, MI – Detroit Chassis LLC, an automotive manufacturing company of niche vehicles and RV chassis announced that it would join Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan by participating in National Groundhog Job Shadow Day. DCP Associates will serve as one-day mentors to high school students Friday, February 2, 2007. The purpose of the area wide event is to encourage young people to see the connection between what they are learning in school and what skills are needed in the workplace. Volunteers in businesses in Detroit and Southfield, Michigan have coupled with us nationwide in hosting one million student “shadows” for the day. Groundhog Job Shadow Day is the start of a two-month long series of job shadows where Junior Achievement will connect high school students and area business people throughout metro Detroit.

“This program allows students to interact with associates at many levels in our organization and provides a wonderful way for students to gain an understanding of the world of work,” said Michael Guthrie, President, Detroit Chassis. Michael Guthrie received the Lifetime Achievement Award from JA, served as President of JA of Mid-Michigan, and participated on boards from both JA of Mid-Michigan and JA of Southeastern Michigan.

Detroit Chassis will sponsor Hamtramck High School in Hamtramck, Michigan. This is the second activity planned with Instructor Victor Evanoff and Hamtramck High School. Our program will take young people into the world of manufacturing so that they can find out what skills and education are needed for the workplace of today and tomorrow. The “shadow” experience gives students a chance to explore career options beyond what their parents may do for a living.

Other sponsors in our area include: Right Management, Compuware, Henry Ford Health System, Metaldyne, PVS Chemicals and Rock Financial.
