DCP Selects Christine White as the New Engineering Co-op Student

DETROIT, MI – Detroit Chassis LLC, an automotive manufacturing company of niche vehicles and RV chassis announced that Christine White obtained an engineering co-op position at its Lynch Rd facility. She is stationed in the Vision Center and she reports to Dave Starzacher, Lean Process Engineer.

Christine is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. She came to the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan in August 2004 to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. She chose to pursue a career in engineering because while in high school she had dominating strengths in mathematics. These observations led her high school counselor to send her to a 21/2 week Women in Engineering and Technology Program at Ohio State University.

She successfully completed all of the requirements for the program while earning four college credit hours and a scholarship. Christine felt that the experience and tools she learned in the program would assist her in accomplishing her goals. Christine is a full time mechanical engineering student at the college of Engineering and Science at the University of Detroit Mercy and has successfully completed her sophomore year.

The essential function of Christine’s engineering co-op is to assist the Lean Process Engineering team with drawings, material layout, line support, and lean projects. The team is exploring avenues for eliminating waste in our processes by improving line side presentation. Christine’s job is to update the existing layout of the plant using AutoCAD 2004 software. Her duties are to update and maintain a Plant Layout reflecting current and proposed states of tooling, facilities, and material requirements for DCP and distribute the information into the existing layout plan.

As a principle resource and support associate, her duty is to be pro-active as a participant of corporate goals and objectives and also act as a role model in relation to the DCP Leadership Model.

Christine is excited about the opportunity awarded to her and she hopes to continue to gain valuable experiences from Detroit Chassis and further pursue her education in engineering.
