WE ARE COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE BY ADDING VALUE

DETROIT, MI – Detroit Chassis LLC, an automotive manufacturing company of niche vehicles and RV chassis, announced today that Donald J. Taylor, Jr. F-450 Program Manager has decided to accept the position of plant manager at a manufacturing company in South Carolina.

Don wrote in his statement to DCP, “When I arrived at DCP in August of 2000, I truly believed that this would be my last move; in fact, I often shared that with the owners and many associates. I realized that the previous (18) years with Daimler Chrysler although valuable, took a significant toll on my Family, Life, and Health. I never looked back, in fact, after about a year, I had learned to quit bringing it up! Ha! Ha! You know, that “Ole Command and Control” behavior well known in the Auto Industry.

I quickly felt the family environment and began developing relationships throughout the organization. The products (F-53 and the right hand drive Postal chassis) were niche and required different approaches, behaviors, and management styles.

The workforce was superb, it was U.A.W. but unique. They wanted to learn, be involved, support the cause, and deliver customer joy. I could get so much done in so little time without all of the hassles of a large company. The management team was open minded and diversified with many different talents and experiences from abroad. This was to be my home!

It was also a time at which our Leaders were transforming behaviors and building trust with the workforce. Wow, a workplace that you can look forward to coming to work and where the owners treat you with dignity and respect: leaders who give you the tools and teach you the techniques to be a better person, parent, family member, friend, worker, boss and leader.

Over the years we have seen products come and go, up weeks, down weeks, pay, no pay, overtime, no overtime, 22 JPH, 16 JPH, 11 JPH, 8 JPH (F-53) 3 JPH, 7 JPH (Th!nk).................................................Then there was XPG, Remember John?, Lean training, C-Lean, Continuous Improvement, Safer Work Environment, Improved Quality,................. I will never forget the.....Great Celebrations, superb Picnics (Do you remember Mike with his Speedos in the dunk tank?) Dre, how about the Champagne bottle? While at DCP I have enjoyed fabulous Christmas parties, new business opportunities, new customers, plant visits, etc.

Where am I going with this? I love working here. I love the people, the product, and the city. There has not been a day that I did not want to go to work. I take that back, there was one.........4/17/06, the day I walked into Mike G’s office and asked if he had a minute. This time was different, I wasn’t reporting performance, F-450, hunting stories or, seeking advice on plant activities: (I truly never expected to leave DCP let alone the state of Michigan). I sadly informed Mike that I had the opportunity to be a plant manager building fire trucks in South Carolina. He listened to the events leading to this new opportunity, and said that I didn’t have to leave but that these were the types of opportunities our associates are groomed to accept. I have the opportunity to take what I have learned and assist others in achieving excellence.

I want everyone to know; that this is the best place I have ever worked. I have learned so much from every one of you; I am a better manufacturer, person, friend, father, (haven’t quite figured that husband thing out yet!), worker, and leader. I have also been touched spiritually in many ways. You know who you are?

I personally thank all of you for everything you have done for me. I will never forget the opportunity provided for me here at DCP.

You all are truly World Champions. Keep up the Spirit and Great work. I am proud of all of you and I will never forget you!”

Taylor Out!
